Oscar Show Munchies

The Oscars are this Sunday so whether you have some friends coming over to watch the big show or you're kicking it alone on the couch here are two yummy snacks to take you through the night.


Three Fabulous Popcorn Recipes First .......
Bacon Cheese Popcorn Recipe -  You say What!!! Bacon popcorn?! Ahhhaaaammmmazing.
4 quarts popped popcorn 
1/3 cup butter, melted 
1/2 teaspoon seasoned salt 
1/2 teaspoon hickory-smoked salt 
1/2 cup of grated American cheese 
1/3 cup chopped bacon (You could also use real bacon bits)

1. Pour freshly popped corn into large bowl.
2. Combine butter with hickory-smoked salt. Pour over popcorn; toss well to coat. Sprinkle with cheese and bacon bits. Toss again and serve while warm.
Hot Wing Popcorn Recipe
(Recipe from Orville Redenbacher's)
2 1/2 quarts popped corn
2 cups corn chips, slightly broken
1 cup dry-roasted peanuts
1/4 cup butter
2 tablespoons Louisiana-Style Hot Sauce
1 teaspoon celery seed
1/4 teaspoon salt (optional)
1. In small bowl, place 2 cups of pop corn; set aside.
2. Combine remaining popcorn with corn chips and peanuts.
3. In small saucepan, melt butter with hot sauce, celery seed and salt; pour over popcorn/peanut mixture, tossing gently to coat. Spread on 15 x 10-inch baking sheet. Bake at 350 degrees F for 10 minutes. Remove from baking sheet to large serving bowl. Toss with remaining 2 cups popped corn. Serve immediately or store in airtight container.
Five Star Caramel Popcorn Recipe
(Recipe from Allrecipes.com)
1 cup butter
2 cups brown sugar
1/2 cup corn syrup
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
5 quarts popped popcorn
1. Preheat oven to 250 degrees F  Place popcorn in a very large bowl.
2. In a medium saucepan over medium heat, melt butter. Stir in brown sugar, corn syrup and salt. Bring to a boil, stirring constantly. Boil without stirring 4 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in soda and vanilla. Pour in a thin stream over popcorn, stirring to coat.
3. Place in two large shallow baking dishes and bake in preheated oven, stirring every 15 minutes, for 1 hour. Remove from oven and let cool completely before breaking into pieces. 

And now for the chocolate bark recipe ...... yum!

Dark Chocolate Pretzel Toffee Bark
1/2 cup broken pretzels (whatever shape)
1/2 cup chopped Heath Bar bits (they come in a bag in the baking aisle)
1/4 cup mini marshmallows (these are new)
1 2/3 cups (10-oz. pkg.) NESTLÉ® TOLL HOUSE® Dark Chocolate Morsels
1. Use a Silpat or line a baking sheet with wax paper.
2. Combine pretzels, Toffee Bits, and mini marshmallows in small bowl.
3. In a separate bowl melt  chocolate on medium for 30 second intervals; stirring in between. Once melted, a dd  half of your pretzel mixture and combine.
4. Pour chocolate mixture onto prepared baking sheet. Spread mixture to desired thickness. Sprinkle wth remaining pretzel mixture. Tap sheet several times to spread chocolate and settle the ingredients. Refrigerate for 30 minutes or until firm.
