Olive's Ice Cream Birthday Party

My baby is one!

I never realized how old I was until I had my babies. I think it's because every day you see them grow and grow. You have something to watch. It's truly amazing.

I decided on an Ice Cream Party for baby Olive. She doesn't walk. She doesn't talk. And she has no teeth, but she's pretty damn cute ... so what's more fitting than a big ice cream party? Scroll down to see my baby Olive Blue's First Ice Cream Party!

I chose pastel colors for the ice cream party. I kept all the linens neutral with ivory and all the party favor bags were brown. The balloons were peach, pink, and mint. The little ice cream cones hanging in the back are made from colored coffee filters and paper rolled into a cone shape.

Ahhhhhh I love her sooooooooo much!

And yes sir, that's an ice cream hat. That's a real ice cream cone glued to colored coffee filters (if you read my blog you know my obsession with coffee filters). I hot glued the entire thing to a headband I wrapped in ribbon. All the kids got their very own ice cream hat.

And the boys got paper ice cream parlor hats. I found these at Smart and Final.

Since it was a first birthday I filled these little plastic bottles with milk and printed the labels from East Drink Chic. I bought the straws on Lilyshop from PartyQueen and I topped each milk bottle with a Gerber baby cookie : ) If anyone wants those plastic cartons I bought like 476,852 .... OK not that many, but it seriously looks like that many. My husband thinks I'm insane. And I am insane. I don't know what I was thinking.

I purchased old fashioned straw dispensers for the party to keep with the parlor theme.

For the dessert bar I tried to get all things ice cream-ish, hence the Dippin' Dots Ice Cream candy.
Again, these beautiful labels are from East Drink Chic.

Candy ...

Astronaut Ice Cream ... I love astronaut ice cream. And so does Olive apparently .....

Ice Cream Cookies ....

And what's an ice cream party without ice cream toppings .... and cones and ice cream cone bowls.

And ice cream ... Yes, this was a huge mess.

If you're planning on throwing an ice cream party don't forget a big pail of hot water so you can rinse the scoops off when you switch flavors.

Ice cream in a cone bowl ~ aren't these cool!?

More ice cream ...

And my ice cream cake. I made a three layer brownie cake with frosting on top. I used a real ice cream cone and stuffed a giant marshmallow in the end then covered everything with frosting. It totally looks like melted ice cream right?

And lastly, the ice cream pinata that took me 7 years and 3 days to make. No seriously, it took me forfreakingever and I'm not making another one so don't ask! If you want to see this fabulously but seriously long tutorial click here: Ice Cream Pinata

Happy First Birthday baby girl! We love you soooooooo much!

Hi, Jessie! I came across your blog and I;m so inspired by your ideas! My daughter is turning one in September and I'm starting to plan it now. This is the first time I'm throwing a party like this so my mind is all over the place. I am excited and I'm filled with ideas but don't know where to start! I know what I want though... Anyway, We want an ice cream bar, as well. :) Where did you get those plastic bottles? I really didn't want to use glass bottles because they are heavy and I didn't want any accident at the party you know :) Thank you in advance!

I want some ice cream and fun too :). Baby girl Olive has no clue how much time, effort and money was invested to make her smile and do a boogie, woogie dance for the camera and for all of us to see her adorable self. I love the theme however it looks very time consuming and costly.
