Summer is almost here .... and unfortunately so are the bugs.  Use these easy home remedies to ward off those annoying insects!
Baking soda
Baking soda quickly eases that bug bite "itch". To use, mix a few teaspoons of baking soda with a small amount of water to form a thick paste. Apply directly to skin. If you have multiple bites or stings, you can make an anti-itch bath by adding 4 tablespoons of baking soda to warm bath water. Soak for 15 minutes.
Rub the inside of a banana peal on your bug bite to relieve the bug "itch".
Loose tobacco can ease the pain from bites and stings almost instantly. Mix water and/or apple-cider vinegar into a small wad of tobacco. Make a thick paste and apply directly to the bite. Leave on until the swelling is gone. (Safety/Allergy Note: If redness or irritation occurs, remove the tobacco!)
Lavender, Peppermint, or Tea Tree Essential Oil
These concentrated oils neutralize toxicity and reduce inflammation and itchiness. Add a few drops to your baking soda paste to increase the effectiveness, or apply a drop or two directly to the bite. Mix 1 tsp of any of the oils with honey to disinfect as well.
