Natural Baby Shower Favors

I have been making baby shower decor for the Home and Family show on the Hallmark Channel and these are the last final pieces for the actual shower. These are the baby shower favors! I am a big believer in giving FUNCTIONAL baby showers favors. I try and think outside of the box when planning a shower or party and these little herb pots are such a simple, yet beautiful party favor. And they also double as place settings.

What you need: (I got everything from Michaels)
3" Terracota pots ($0.75)
Crackle Glaze & Paint
1 roll of Panacea Burlap Jute
Celebrate It Muslin Treat Bags
Stencils & Fabric Paint (Or a Sharpie)

First you need to glaze your terracotta pots with a crackle glaze.

Using a paint brush, coat the entire outside of the pot. It looks all bubbly like this. Let dry completely. About 25 minutes.

Once the crackle coat is dry you can coat the pot with acrylic paint. I used white but you can use any color you want.

As soon as the paint touches the crackle coat it starts crackling. See!? Let dry 25 minutes.

Now you need to wrap your pot in burlap. I cut 8" sheets.

Pull the burlap up and tie some ribbon around it. (You can also hot glue it at this point)

Now tie a pretty bow. Your pot is done! Now you can fill with soil or fill with a packet of seeds like below.

For the seed packets I used these pretty muslin bags. I used sticker stencils and fabric paint. If you use the fabric paint be sure to push down ever so lightly with the paint so it doesn't get under the stencil.

I attached a little tag with a hand stamped "Thank you" but you could also put the guests names on the backs of the tags and use them as place cards.

Fill with your seeds. Make sure to choose herbs that can be planted in small pots. No watermelon
seeds : )

And there you go!

Hopefully you will water your little baby and get a pretty little plant like this : )
