Making Felt Dog Ties

I'm in my sweats, Lily's in her Rapunzel dress, Olive's in her pajamas and Henry's sporting this fancy red tie ..... It's business as usual at Lilyshop this morning!

Isn't he handsome in his tie?
We adopted Henry a little over a year ago.
Scroll down for the Felt Tie Tutorial .....

Here are the different colors we made. You can really use anything. We cut the little bone out of the gray felt and the black tie has rhinestones on it.

Here is my crappy template. This is the actual drawing we made and traced onto the felt - I put dimensions on it because I'm not savvy enough to make one in photoshop and give it to you as a pdf. You don't have to use my exact dimensions.

Just draw a tie at the bottom of an 8.5 x 11" sheet of paper then fold the paper in half and cut the tie out. If you cut it correctly, when you unfold the paper you should have two ties attached with a circle in the middle. The circle between the two ties needs to be big enough to fit your dog's collar so figure out how wide your dog's collar is and then adjust your drawing accordingly.

Once you have your template, trace your tie onto your felt and cut it out. I glued my tie in only one spot in the middle but you can sew it or seal it whichever way you want.

TIP: My dog doesn't eat random things so he can have rhinestones on his tie. If your dog eats everything in site you may want to just go with the felt alone. They really can't get it off the collar.

Jessie- What type of dog is he? He looks very similar to our dog Knuckles that we got in Wales. They said he was half frenchie half pug but we know there is something else in him :)
