Have you participated in one yet? Maybe you are a veteran, if so share some tips with your Lilyshop friends. The craft fairs are a great way to make sales, talk to clients, and stay excited about your work. Do keep in mind that not all fairs are created equal. You really have to ask other artists and do your homework. Visit the venue before you invest in your own booth. Remember your target audience. If you sell homemade cookies you might do extremely well at a local farmers market. If you are a high end jewelry artist you would probably do better at a juried art festival.
One of our favorites is the Renegade Craft Fair. RFC is a unique, DIY event and the fair takes place in cities across the U.S., including Brooklyn, Chicago, Los Angeles and San Francisco. At RCF you’ll find all sorts of cool handmade stuff. A good site to help you get started at whichever fair you choose is www.zapplication.org. You can get information about festivals and apply online for a small fee. Good luck!
